Snow Chasing in Ohio and New York!

Sunday I said I was doing something "random, spontaneous and pretty stupid"... well I haven't disappointed lol. Here's what I have done. Much to the chagrin to my dogs...... Sunday morning I left my house with my mom and we drove to Mentor, OH (just northeast of Cleveland). It was about a 6 hour drive. Why go there? Because almost every winter I feel robbed of snow. It seems like everyone gets snow EXCEPT me! So frustrated, I decided to take things into my own hands. I saw an upcoming Lake Effect Snowstorm was headed to Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. So logically the only thing to do was go! Haha. So Saturday night my mom and I decided we were gonna do this... but wait until Sunday morning to pick WHERE exactly we wanted to go. So Sunday I wake up, look at the weather maps and decide Mentor, OH was the place to go! So that's what we did... we drove for 6 hours, in pouring rain, wet snow, fog and wind...... Once we finally got to OH, we really just chilled. Went out to eat, sight see and on Monday we went to Lake Erie and BOY was it COLD! The winds were around 45mph and the waves were crashing! Monday night while driving, we kinda got caught up in a heavy snow squall... it was certainly an adventure. The interstates, MAJOR HIGHWAYS, were completely covered in snow!
That was ... "fun" lol. My poor mom was so stressed driving in that! Haha... well we got back to our room safely and that was that. This morning (Tuesday) when I woke up... my mom was watching The Weather Channel and on my laptop and the first thing she said to me this morning was " so, you ready to go to Syracuse!?" Haha I was shocked but we talked about it for a few minutes and decided Syracuse was about to get hit with even more snow than Ohio and that we'd head that way. So after I took a quick pic outside our Ohio hotel...
... we headed to New York! As soon as we got in the Buffalo area, it POURED snow and it was bad! It amazes me how bad the roads were! Anyway we barely made it to the hotel... and I'm glad we made it when we did. The only problem NOW is the fact that we literally are snowed in here. It's pouring snow out and there's no way the van can make it on the roads anytime soon. And that has me nervous. :/ Anyway we will see how things go. We are right outside of Syracuse in Warners, NY and I really hope to GO to Syracuse, a 10 minute drive, and explore the city. I've always been curious as to how the city was and what it's like. We shall see! That's all for now! Stay tuned!

UPDATE:

It's now January 6, but I wanted to briefly update what happened the rest of the trip. First off... we spent one night in Warners, NY. Then to be closer to everything, we decided the next morning to brave the snow and move to a hotel closer to downtown Syracuse. Good choice. (I just want to mention that as I'm typing this... 2 bombs just went off in Annapolis and Hanover... so I'm hopping from this post to the news and back to the post). Anyway, my mom and I walked thru downtown Syracuse, found a BEAUTIFUL outdoor skating area right in downtown surrounded by Christmas lights and music. It was magical. The people are nice. The land is gorgeous. Loved it... here are the rest of the pics from the trip...

Party Time!... And Football!

So Amanda threw a party last night and it was pretty fun. I was down about some stuff... but it didn't ruin the night. At some points I was crying from laughing so hard :) I love when that happens. A lot of pictures were taken and I'm sure they will find their way onto the net. Once that happens, I will be sure to update this post with some of them :)
UPDATE: PICTURES ADDED

Now to today, it's Sunday... and when it's fall season, you know what that means! FOOTBALL! Christie and Courtney are coming over to our unheated house today to watch the game. It's been in the 40s all week and I HATE it. It's so cold in here! Hopefully all of my jumping and cheering for the game will warm me up.

Remembering Michael Jackson

Yesterday Michael Jackson died from cardiac arrest. I was just leaving my house to pick up April at around 5:00 PM when I was flipping thru the radio stations and came across one that was playing a good song. After that song completed the DJ came on and said that Michael Jackson had suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital and that he hoped MJ would make a quick recovery, he then said he would play a 5 minute block of Michael Jackson songs just to "encourage" him along... send his "support" so to speak. At that moment the tone was "news like". Calm and hopeful. After that 5 minute of MJ songs completed the DJ said that Michael's condition had worsened and then started to play all MJ songs... you could tell just from the feeling in the air that the tone had changed. I started to flip thru the stations and every minute that went by, one by one they started to report the story and eventually they started to play all MJ themselves. The feeling in the air was now one of deep concern, as it was reported he was in a coma. One DJ at around 6PM stated said "I have a feeling that we will remember this day for a very long time". At around 6:30PM her words proved true. Sitting at the drive thru ATM at the bank listening to the car radio HOT 99.5 reported that TMZ was officially stating that Michael Jackson had died... then moments later Ryan Seacrest made his way onto every Top 40 radio stations nationwide LIVE, confirming Michael's death. All histeria broke out. DJ's got emotional, radio listeners calling in crying... it was unforgettable. After dropping April off shortly thereafter, I rushed to go over Christie's and I picked her up and we went to K Mart and I got some bars of soap and, well here's what I did...

I left that on all night last night driving around the entire island with Christie blasting MJ music, making sure everyone got the message. I went to work today like that as well. I woke up to every station remembering Michael Jackson. All day today on the radio, every station, all you heard was Michael. And that was fine by me. It seemed like the world was celebrating his life. Yes there was mourning... but it was mostly a celebration. It has definitely been a unique and special experience to be a part of history.

"The King of Pop" will live on forever thru his music.

UPDATE 6/27 5:15 PM:
As I said yesterday, Michael will live on thru his music... and BOY was I right. Take a look at these screen shots from the iTunes store...
He has seven songs in the Top 10 songs in the USA right now, including the number 1 position. Also 9 out of the Top 10 Albums are his, again claiming the number one spot there as well. On Amazon.com he claims 19 of the top 25 songs on there, as well as being the number one artist on that site and guess who is number 2... The Jackson 5! Billboard claims that Michael Jackson will break history next week, having the NUMBER ONE ALBUM in the country and likely the world. Click here for the full and intriguing story.

Going To See Kelly Clarkson TONIGHT!

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! So much for sitting around doing nothing! A few minutes after I wrote my last post, the one below, saying I wasn't talking to anyone, I was isolating myself and just watching movies all day, well then I decided to go to Kelly's fansite and see what everyone was talking about and they were all saying how tonights gonna be awesome cuz its Kelly Clarkson's and Reba McEntire's last night together on the "2 Worlds, 2 Voices Tour"! Tonight is the end of the tour. And i was seeing all the people that were going and I was like... OMG! What the heck! Live a little! So I did it. I bought one ticket and am going by myself. I am leaving at 6PM to get there. The show starts at 8PM. Ahhhh! I'm so excited! Oh and I have been fighting non stop with someone and I have had more drama with other people but Im totally forgetting about that and getting all excited about tonight omg! :-D

UPDATE: Concert rocked.

My Snowy Yesterday, My Lazy Today

Ok so yesterday was technically the fourth day we have had snow this month. The first time I saw 2 flakes at night mixed in with rain, the second I never saw any but a lot of other people saw flurries. Our third snowfall this season was on Thursday and it came early in the morning when I was walking into work at around 6:55 AM. I saw about 15 flakes that time. And finally we come to yesterday. The "big" finale lol. It poured snow off and on all day. It was purrty! I loved it. Below is a picture... if you look you can see all of the white flakes in the air! And did I mention it is still friggin insanely COLLLD!

Now today, Saturday, I am making a lazy, do nothing day. I have been invited to things with people but I am cutting myself from the world today and sitting home and eating and watching movies all day. I'm just gonna pop one movie in after another. Curl up in a ball in my sweats and hoodie on the couch, cover up and enjoy the shows. All day. After I am done with this post, no more computer for me today :-D

UPDATE: See post above this.

"Circus" Leaked!

OMG! Britney's new album has leaked! I'm listening to it now. OMG! I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet... but I can tell you what I have heard is AWESOME! "Blackout", her last album, is my fav album of all time. Will "Circus" take that title? I don't know yet. But it will def atleast be my #2... its that good :)

UPDATE:
Ok so I have had a chance to listen to the whole album. First impression is that this is a solid album. Very good. There are definitely stand out songs. The best in no order are... "Womanizer", "Circus", "If U Seek Amy", "Shattered Glass" and "Mannequin". Those are some insanely hot tracks right there. However as a whole, I do not believe "Circus" is better than "Blackout". BUT... it is definitely good enough to come in as my 2nd favorite album.

OMG "Womanizer"!

6:08 AM: It's a little after 6 AM and I'm running around like crazy trying to get this song before work! Omg as I type this I'm reading that they are about to premiere it. Ugh. I cant sit here and wait!

OMG! 6:12 AM UPDATE! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! I CAN'T BREATHE! I'M LISTENING TO IT NOW!

6:22 AM UDPATE: Here's the song! Friggin HOT! And yes it's HQ,not a radio rip! I'm awesome.
"Womanizer" - Britney Spears*

6:28 AM UPDATE: Here's me the first time hearing them play the song on the radio 2 minutes before they legally could this morning lol. Yes I recorded me freaking out. Even though I already heard it this morning, hearin it on the radio is different.

5:30 PM UPDATE:
Ok so here's the final word on what's happening with "Womanizer". As you can see I had an interesting morning lol. I ripped the song online this morning and took it to work. It was moderate quality, but def. good enough to pump it ALL DAY in my ears. So that's what I did. However radio DJ's have been mean to her. They are just saying bad things about her and the song. I have to say that when I first heard it I was sooo excited, but not blown away. However, it's a grower. Trust me. It's good the first time you hear it, but it gets better every time you hear it, its AMAZING now. A masterpiece. I hope radio gives this a fair chance. Some stations are actually refusing to play it :-(. So sad. Anyway I love it. And have it on constant repeat baby. And I have it in HQ now too, yay!

7:30 PM UPDATE: Ok so maybe I exaggerated a bit. There are actually some really good reviews coming in now. The LA Times said some awesome stuff about it, and only about 50% of DJ's are knocking it. Internationally "Womanizer" is getting a lot more love than here in the States.

9:55 PM UPDATE: As far as requests go, today 'Womanizer is already topping charts! Tonight, like 12 hours or so after it premiered it's...
#1 in Washington DC on HOT 99.5
#2 in St. Louis on Z107.7
#4 in New York City on Z100
#1 in Seattle on 106.1 KISS FM

On "Womanizer" Watch - Round 1

10:45 AM: Rumors are running rampant on websites, blogs and fansites all over the net that Australia will debut "Womanizer" to their audiences at 7:30 AM Melbourne, AUS time. That's 5:30 PM our time today (Eastern USA)! Now you can pretty much assume that radio stations have the song around the world and are now just waiting for the legality to play it (certain radio stations bought the right to play it first, everyone else has to wait til they get the chance to play it). So any hour now, IF the rumors are true, "Womanizer" will be made public!

11 AM UPDATE:
There is a lot of talk that it will NOT be premiering in Australia now. However there are "papers" confirming it will be. If not, Z100 in New York will be premiering it at 1:30 AM tomorrow.

12:16 PM UPDATE: Britney's record label just came out with more info, they said that "Womanizer" will be officially added to Australian radio playlists from 7 AM Australian Eastern Standard Time. That's 5 PM US Eastern Time. Most Australian breakfast radio shows start at 6 AM. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT AUSTRALIAN RADIO STATIONS WILL OFFICIALLY HAVE "WOMANIZER" IN THEIR PLAYLIST FROM THIS TIME, BUT MAY STILL BE UNDER FURTHER INSTRUCTION NOT TO PLAY IT.

12:32 PM UPDATE: Radio station Nova 100 in Melbourne, AUS is said to be the radio station that will premier "Womanizer" in Australia. To listen to the radio station, just click the link and give it a moment to load, they are saying that literally MILLIONS of people are online just for the purpose to hear "Womanizer" the moment it leaks. I have been bouncing all over the net and I can definitely attest to that. It is so crazy that numerous websites have actually crashed! By the way, I find it highly amusing that I've gotten all caught up in this lol. It's pretty funny. Anyway to start listening to Nova 100, just click the link to the right :-) Click Here To Stream Nova 100 Live.

2:20 PM UPDATE:
Ugh. This is just crazy. There's so much happening at once online with this and it's leading no where. Two radio stations in Australia, one in England, one in Germany and two here in the US all claim that they will premiere it at 7:30 AM their times, except the US stations, they say it will be 1 AM their local times. But, the buzz in the last few hours have shifted from an Aussie release back to a New York release at around 1 AM tomorrow morning. However, to add more confusion to the mix, an email has been leaked from an Australia media outlet showing that they HAVE indeed received the final finish mp3 file of "Womanizer", and that it is LOCKED until 7 AM their time. It also stated that Australian radio stations will receive instructions on what to do no later than 7 AM.

5:14 PM UPDATE: It's 7:14 AM Monday, September 22 in Australia, they are 14 hours ahead of us, and nearly 15 minutes after all radio stations in Australia received and added "Womanizer" to their playlists, they have not played it, nor has there been a leak. This means that there is most likely a virtual "lock" remaining on the mp3 file until past midnight eastern USA time. It appears that New York does indeed still have the legal right to play the song first. BTW, I am listening to Nova 100 in Melbourne, Australia right now in hopes that maybe they will play it. Lol. So sad.

5:44 PM UPDATE: The Australian premiere is NOT happening. The Edge FM in New Zealand announced "Womanizer" is being delayed with its premiere in New Zealand/Australia. Looks like we have to wait until tomorrow when it debuts on Z100. Here's what they had to say on the radio.
The Edge FM Talking About "Womanizer" Delay

9:21 PM UPDATE: I'm totally done with this tonight. It looks like 1:30 AM is the premiere time. Still on Z100. I'm sooo not staying up for that. Guess I will wait until the morning. The fansites are all going crazy. People are drinking coffee and Red Bulls worldwide staying up into the wee hours of the morning waiting to hear this thing. So crazy!

10:50 PM UPDATE: Z100 premiering "Womanizer" at 7 AM. I will be at work :-( hopefully it leaks before.

MONDAY 4:28 PM UPDATE: Long story short, the single will now be released next Monday, September 29. I will start a new thread then. This concludes "Womanizer" Watch Round 1. Round two starts Sunday the 28th with a new post/thread then.

Clip Of Britney Spears New Song "Womanizer"

OMG! I'm so excited! Britney's new song "Womanizer" will be released to radio on Monday, and hopefully it will leak before then. However, if you are dying to know what the song is gonna sound like... YOU GOT IT! I got my paws on a 37 second clip of the song. It very low quality, but you can definitely hear Britney's parts and some of the music and it darn catchy! I can't wait for the whole thing to leak! But for now, hit play and enjoy the 37 sec clip of "Womanizer"!

September 20, 10:40 AM UPDATE: Jive released a statement to MTV stating that this clip is from the "rough mix" of the track, not the finalized single. It was apparently recorded by the radio station via a telephone. KIIS FM in L.A. and Z100 in New York have paid for the rights to be the first two official "world premieres." Any station who plays the track without consent will be fined $250,000 for playing it as a "world premiere."

About To Have Music Overload!

Ok, so music is my life. And the music of my life includes Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. They are my women, along with Rihanna. Well guess what my peeps. Kelly Clarkson is about to release her new single any day now. Christina just release her new song that is getting insane play on my iPod, and the comeback Queen Ms. Spears? Well her label just confirmed today that her new song will be release NEXT WEEK! And if that wasn't enough, Hilary Duff just released her new song from her new album and it's so friggin catchy! I can't take it anymore! Lol. September is now officially the most exciting month this year for music! Oh and BTW, you will get to hear both Kelly's and Britney's new songs as soon as I get them... which almost always is weeks before the public. So keep checkin' back for that!

7:13 PM Update - Kelly Clarkson's management and label may be considering delaying the release of her new single and album due to the news of Britney's new music coming out. Kelly was supposed to release her new song this month, and her new album December 2... well that's exactly the same plans Britney Spears has. I wouldn't blame Kelly's team putting it off. Either way, I really don't care. I have so much music right now that's hot in my world it's just unreal.

7:30 PM Update - Um yeah... another update lol. Sorry but today has been crazy in the music world. I just heard the new Pussycat Dolls album "Doll Domination" and it's awesome! Some genuine, catchy pop. The best music I have heard since Britney's last album! "Bottle Pop", "Magic", "When I Grow Up" and "Whatcha Think About That" are all the hottest tracks on the album. This is crazy!

Preparing For Hanna

Hanna is going to make landfall in North Carolina around midnight tonight. She probably will make it back to hurricane strength before hand. So what can I expect right here at home? Well here are the expectations from the National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center for my area.

  • A Tropical Storm Warning Is In Effect
  • A Flood Watch Is In Effect
  • Winds Sustained At 25 MPH- 35 MPH, Gusts Up To 60 MPH
  • Heavy Rain Totaling 3-5 Inches+
  • Power Outages Are Likely
  • Worst Of It Hits Tomorrow Around Noon

Here are some pictures of me bringing in and securing our lawn furniture in preparation for Hanna's winds, and laying out the drain spout to guide all the heavy rains away from our house.

Thought I could get one last swim in before the pool got slammed with debris... it started raining right when the picture was taken and got kinda chilly so my feet were the only thing that made it in the pool lol.

8:10 PM UPDATE: Officials say that they may be closing the Bay Bridge tomorrow morning because of the winds. We would be stuck here, since we live on an island lol.

Hurricane Gustav

This is a look at how things evolved with Hurricane Gustav from right before landfall, during landfall and afterwards. It was my first attempt to do a "Storm Alert Mode" continual posting of breaking news regarding the storm. I don't know if I will do it again, but it was pretty cool to do it once.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 - 6:00 PM NOTE: THIS IS THE LAST STORM ALERT POST FOR GUSTAV
Strength: Category 1
Winds: 80 MPH
Central Pressure: 966 MB
Location: 15 Miles N of Lafayette, LA
Moving: NW 16 MPH
Expected To: Continue To Weaken

Comments: Hurricane Gustav is continuing to hammer inland Louisiana. New Orleans was spared that brunt and the levees seem to have held up to the challenge, despite being topped by a few feet. Gustav has spawned 100's of tornadoes and continues to do so. Gustav is still expected to stall over northwestern Louisiana and eastern Texas. As of now 2 million people in Louisiana are without power. Oil prices plummeted by $4.16, down to a closing prices of $111.30 a barrel.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 - 11:45 AM
Strength: Category 2
Winds: 110 MPH
Central Pressure: 955 MB
Location: 70 Miles SW of New Orleans
Moving: NW 15 MPH
Expected To: Weaken

Comments: I slept in :-P Anyway, Gustav has officially made landfall in south central Louisiana. There are widespread power outages as you would expect. The levees in New Orleans are holding up well as of now, however the water has risen to a point that it is overflowing in some areas. Also, there is a barge loose in one of the cdanals, and the fear is that it will crash into the side of the levee and repeat the situation that happened in 2005. As far as oil/gas prices go on the markets, it pretty interesting to say the least. Everyone was saying that it was going to skyrockect, and that would make sense. But oil prices have plummeted more than $4.50 a barrel, and gas price futures are trading down 10 cents a gallon. All of this will change of course if we hear of damage to oil rigs or refineries. Just FYI, I am now watching Tropical Storm Hanna in the Bahama's. It is expected to become a hurricane Wednesday and make landfall on the Georgia/South Carolina coast Friday. Also Tropical Depression 9, soon to be Tropical Storm Ike has formed way out in the Atlantic. That will be our next major hurricane, and it just may enter the Gulf of Mexico way down the road.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 31 - 11:00 PM
Strength: Category 3
Winds: 115 MPH
Central Pressure: 954 MB
Location: 220 Miles SE of New Orleans
Moving: NW 16 MPH
Expected To: Stay Same Strength

Comments: So Hurricane Gustav has held steady at 115 MPH. It is still a dangerous Category 3 Hurricane barreling down on Louisiana's coast. The forward speed has started to slow, and is expected to continue that trend and when it makes landfall and moves into north western Louisiana and eastern Texas, it could stall and cause catastrophic flooding. The first deaths have been reported here in the USA from Gustav. 3 critical care patients in New Orleans who were being evacuated from their hospitals died en route to their destination. Media coverage of Hurricane Gustav is extreme, non stop on every network. I am going to bed, and will update you tomorrow morning.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 31 - 10:10 PM

Strength: Category 3
Winds: 115 MPH
Central Pressure: 952 MB
Location: 260 Miles SSE of New Orleans
Moving: NW 17 MPH
Expected To: Slightly Strengthen

Comments: Hurricane Gustav was a Category 4 when it made landfall this time last night in Cuba with winds of 150 MPH. After reemerging into the Gulf of Mexico it had a hard time regaining the strength it had lost over land. However, it seems that the latest satellite images show it regaining good shape and the central pressure has steadily been dropping at a slow pace. I am pretty sure winds will atleast slightly increase when we get our update from the National Hurricane Center at 11 PM. This info that I have is from 8 PM. Hurricane force winds extend 70 miles out from the center and Tropical Storm force winds extend out 220 miles from the center. 96% of all oil in the Gulf have been shut down and evacuated. 95% of New Orleans residents evacuated. Hurricane Gustav has lead to the largest evacuation in Louisiana history. At one time, The Weather Channel's Mike Bettes was reporting live and a rain band came through and he saw rotation as tornado sirens blared. If that makes it to YouTube I will post the link.

OMG! It's 4AM And I Can't Get Back To Sleep!

Ok so if you have been keeping up with me, you have noticed that I've been on an emotional roller coaster the past month. Well JUST when I was finally almost back to normal... at 3:30 this morning it all came back at once in one big emotional rush I wasn't expecting. It came from a phone call. And now I can't get back to sleep over and hour later! The only reason I'm telling you this is so when I look back at this... I wanna remember what and idiot I was. Lol. This weekend may turn out very interesting... let's wait and see. I will update you tomorrow. Its lightning so who knows if i will get back to sleep now.

6:45 PM UPDATE - Haha, it was lightning at 4:30 this morning when I originally posted this, and now as I type this update from my computer it's lightning and thundering lol... I see a trend! So NOTHING has happened from last night/this morning. Hopefully it won't. I'm tired of it and just want to move on. I'm really happy right now cuz' I found out some more info on this subject that was like... "Whoa" lol. It made me feel a lot better and lifted a lot of stress off my chest. But yeah, there's still time tonight for things to evolve. I doubt they will though, especially since I don't want them to. BTW, I didn't get back to sleep this morning until after 6 AM.

August 3, 11:45 AM UPDATE - Woot! So what has come of this debacle? Nada! Woohoo! And by MY choice :-D This has been quite the eventful, non-event. Lol. So let's all move on from this subject together! Once again... WOOHOO!

My Sunday

1:45 PM
Ok, so I'm gonna be out today and I have decided that I'm gonna do some LIVE updating all through out the day. I slept in til' 7:15am and then got up and watched the news and Disney until like 10:30am then I ate breakfast, which consisted of ham, pancakes and scrambled eggs and cheese. I did some chores and took a shower and headed out to the movies with my grandmother and mom. Of course when we drove here we took the convertible cuz the weather is so awesome! Crossing the Bay Bridge was beautiful, even though i do it often. Now we are at the movies and we are seeing "Made of Honor". I'm sitting in the auditorium all alone cuz the women are going to the bathroom and getting our movie treats. The movie starts in about a half an hour. AFter this we are headed over to the mall to see "Baby Mama". OK well I will update you after I see "Made of Hanor" and letcha know how it is :-)

4:25PM
Ok so "Made of Honor" was pretty good. 3 out of 5 stars. Now i'm at the mall waiting to see "Baby Mama" at 5:10 PM. We are still waiting outside the theatre waiting for the cleaning crew to get out of there. I might play with some of the displays here as I wait.

New Feature Added To MicVachon.com

I am adding the label/tag feature to my blog. You all know what that is, it's like organizing my blog, you click on the certain label and you will see all the posts that pertain to that subject. For example, if I post a story about weather, I will have a weather label at the bottom of that post. Then you can click on the "Weather" label and it will take you to every post that I labeled "Weather", including that one you just had read. Pretty cool huh? I will slowly be adding labels/tags (same thing) to all my posts starting from this month and going backwards in time.

UPDATE: As of 04/16/08 all posts from August 2007 up to now are labeled. I will keep adding labels to the rest of the posts in the near future.
